Water Jet cutting uses an ultra-high pressure stream of water to cut through a variety of materials. There are two main types of water jet cutting, pure water jet cutting and abrasive water jet cutting. In pure water jet cutting only pressurized water is used to cut materials. In abrasive water jet cutting a gritty abrasive is added to the pressurized stream. The abrasive does the cutting through a mechanical sawing action, leaving a smooth, precision cut surface. Water jet cutting is one of the most versatile processes, because it is able to cut almost any type of material and the cost of material and setup is usually very limited.
